Rehabilitation, Extension and Upgrade of an existing Industrial WWTP - Chemical industry, Ialomita County

The plant treats 420 m³/d of industrial wastewater daily, which contains high levels of COD and Nitrogen. In order to achieve the required effluent parameters, a multi-stage treatment process was designed, which allows the treated water to be discharged directly in the river.

A state-of-the-art Membrane Bio-reactor (MBR) - a combination of biological treatment and membrane filtration - was installed, as well as Reverse Osmosis (RO) for a partial flow of 130 m³/d, which enables water recycling and the sustainable reuse as boiler feed water.

Start up: 2023

Main components/ process steps:
- Mechanical solid separation;
- Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF);
- Weekly balancing tank;
- Biological treatment & Ultrafiltration;
- Membrane Bioreactor (MBR);
- RO system;
- Sludge buffer tank;
- Sludge dewatering.

Main Technology:
MBR, Reverse Osmosis.

Purolite Victoria- New Industrial WWTP

The aim of the project is to achieve effluent quality parameters according to the Romanian water quality regulations (except TSS).
Treatment capacity: 5.820 m³/d
Design-Build-Operate: 15 years O&M
Main technology: MBR

Start up: 2022

The multi-stage treatment system includes:
•Neutralization Tank-Compartment 1 & 2
•Emergency buffer tank
•Coagulation & Flocculation
•Lamella clarifiers
•Buffer/clarified water storage tank
•Anoxic selector tank
•Membrane Bioreactor (MBR – Fibracast system)
•Sludge dewatering
The MBR system represents a special feature: As opposed to the MBR systems implemented so far, a new system from FIBRACAST is being used. This technology uses so-called hybrid membranes - a hollow fibre flat plate - which offers several advantages, such as backwashing of flat plates, and which is also an extremely compact system with small footprint and significantly reduced energy consumption.

Philip Morris International Otopeni

The state-of-the-art factory of Philip Morris International (PMI) in Otopeni, located very close to Bucharest, was built in 1997. The production capacity was extended by a new process line. The facility for treatment of industrial and domestic effluents no longer met the new requirements with regard to volumes and pollution loads in line with the expansion.
WABAG was awarded to install a new WWTP serving the new production line and has designed a tailor-made multi-stage treatment plant employing advanced technologies to meet all requirements.
The plant is designed for a capacity of 800 m³/day with additional treatment possibility of 800 m³/day for utilities wastewater to make it suitable for discharge or reuse.

Technology:
DAF, MBBR – FLUOPUR®,
GAC-Filtration
Scope:
Design, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and start-up.

Suplacu de Barcau- Produced Water Treatment Plant

Specially for the requirements of this field, an unique innovative process was developed, which includes physical, chemical and biological cleaning stages, as well as post-treatment and adsorption technologies. Due to specific oil extraction processes the produced water contains large quantities of non biodegradable organic compounds. A multi-stage deep treatment process was tested for several months in real conditions on a pilot plant and successfully passed the tests.
