WABAG Water Services enhances educational facilities at UTCB
We are pleased to announce that WABAG Romania has sponsored the comprehensive renovation of UTCB's I-3 classroom, which had not seen updates in over 50 years. This initiative reflects WABAG Romania's commitment to social responsibility and supporting local educational institutions to enhance academic performance and shape a better future for the next generations.
The project included:
- Walls and ceiling restoration
- New radiator system installation
- Flooring replacement
- Modern lighting system implementation
- New window curtains
- Innovative classroom design
- Modern facilities and furniture (desks, chairs)
- New whiteboard installation
This challenging project was successfully completed within just two months with valuable assistance from Mr. Arh. Mihail Neagu from inedit.works and was entirely sponsored by WABAG Romania.
Mr. Erwin Mötz, expressed his pride in supporting the academic environment and education. He stated: "This project underscores the effectiveness of long-term partnerships between universities and private enterprises, benefiting students and enhancing company’s competitiveness. We view this as our gesture of gratitude to the academic community for contributing to our skilled personnel development. Our employees are our greatest asset, and witnessing the positive outcomes of our contribution is truly rewarding."

Upstream Produced Water
Water is the most critical element in Oil & Gas Exploration and Production. The main challenge of water treatment in the upstream sector is to reduce its environmental footprint and develop efficient water treatment solutions for reuse or discharge. Whether it is for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) or chemical EOR, for reuse or discharge, water availability and purity is crucial. The water treatment process has to meet requirements related to the specific characteristics of the site as well as those related to local environmental legislation. For EOR or Injection purposes, water treatment processes differ depending on the external water resource available and on the water quality required by the site e.g., solids, sulfate and salinity. Moreover, the treated water must not cause corrosion or decreased of oil production.
Downstream Process Water
Faced with increasing environmental legislation coupled with increasing pressure to reduce operational costs while cutting back on investments, the refining and petrochemical industry needs to optimize and diversify water resources. Cooling water and utility water are most often pre-treated water from external water sources (seawater, river water, lake or potable water) but can also be produced by reuse or recycled treated wastewater. The required water quality depends on the specific use within the site. Various forms of utility water may be needed including: process water, boiler feed water, potable water, firefighting water, tank cleaning water.

Downstream Wastewater
Each refinery or petrochemical complex has a specific wastewater composition based on the production capacity and the products. Today we can say that wastewater is the unique fingerprint of each site. In areas where water is scarce , clients may choose (partial) recycling of treated wastewater or even go all the way to Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plants in order to minimize the cooling of utility water intake from natural resources. Reusing & recycling also helps with regulatory compliance, protects environment and optimizes the water balance.
All water and wastewater treatment plants generate large quantities of chemical and biological sludge that have to be managed. In many locations sludge handling represents up to 30 or 40% of the plant’s operational costs. Once treated, oil can be recovered and sludge can become a product and be used for energy recovery systems.
